We are running a children’s story writing competition which is free to enter. We are grateful to Woodbridge Books for their generous support in providing the prizes and judging the entries. The theme for the story is the mariner’s cat which is our children’s guide around the museum. More information is available in the museum and at Woodbridge Bookshop. Entries can be handed in at Woodbridge Museum or at the Woodbridge Bookshop no later than 5th September.
FULL COMPETITION DETAILS
The Mariner’s Cat can be spotted around Woodbridge Museum on our children’s trail. We’d love for you to write a story inspired by this black and white cat.
Prizes! For children aged (a) 5-7 and (b) 8-11
- First prize (each category): £20 Woodbridge Books book token and cuddly cat
- Second prize (each category): cuddly cat
First ten entries delivered to Woodbridge Museum receive a pencil and eraser!
Your Story
- Your story should be your own original work (no AI use please).
- Maximum length: 300 words.
- Your story can be typed or handwritten. Illustrations welcome!
- The Mariner’s Cat must appear in your story but there are no limits on where or when your story takes place or who else is in it!
Hand in your story at Woodbridge Museum or at Woodbridge Books by 4.30pm on 5th September 2026. Winners will be notified on 19th September 2026.
