When the River Deben Froze Over

Now we are in the middle of Winter I thought you might like to see this photograph of people standing on the ice off Ferry Quay when the River Deben froze over! This was in 1895, and you can see how cold it must have been in that year. The gentleman with the bowler hat in the foreground near the dog is Arthur Fairweather who was owner/editor and printer of the Woodbridge Reporter.
