We are delighted to have recently received a donation of The Seckford Archive. The archive is mainly paper and the museum’s intention, once cataloguing is complete, is to invite members of the public to view the archive particularly for family history research.
The archive contains a beautifully made wooden box with medical instruments in the moulded sections inside. This is on display together with the Seckford die cast which was used to make the Seckford Almshouse residents’ badges. We only have the base of the die so if anyone knows where the other half of it is do let us know.
The photos show a group of residents proudly displaying their badges. We think the lady would have been a nurse and not a resident pensioner as the Almshouses only accepted male residents. The other photos are of the die and a badge.

Friends of Woodbridge Museum’s monthly talks season starts on the 11th September with a talk presented by Dave Steward about Hatfield House & the Cecil Family. On 9th October Mary Newton returns with a talk “Hidden in plain sight “about her work as a forensic biologist. All talks start at 2.30pm and take place in Woodbridge Community Hall and visitors are very welcome.
